BERNIECE ELEANOR BASTAIN, 87, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 in Greene County General Hospital, Linton, IN.

She was born February 5, 1926 in Rural Greene County, IN to Elmer Blanton and Pearl (Wolf) Blanton.

Berniece married Rev. James E. Bastain on July 7, 1946 and he passed away on January 17, 2012.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, James E. & Margaret Bastain II of Jasonville, IN; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret Louise Blanton of Linton, IN and Patricia & Ed Simon of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Lori Rynard and Robert Bastain; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bastain and Dustin Bastain, Brittany Rynard and Kathleen Rynard; great-great-grandchildren, William, Madison, Bailey, and Abigail Bastain; nieces, Toni Davis and Margaret Ann Simon; nephew, Edward & Terri Simon; great-nieces & nephew, Erin, Lindsey and Jared Simon; great-great-nieces, Roxanne & Reese.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Elmer Henry Blanton.

Berniece was a 1942 graduate of Midland High School. She worked at Jasonville Hardware & Furniture Company and the Inter-board Council of the United Methodist Church in Bloomington. She was a member of the Nine Mile United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home and 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Church. Funeral Services were Noon, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Nine Mile United Methodist Church with Pastor John Pierce officiating.

Interment was at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN.
