John Douglas Blankenship, 59, an insurance agent, died May 2 at Providence Hospital. A funeral was conducted in East Point, Ga.

Mr. Blankenship was born June 26, 1932, in Atlanta. He was an insurance agent with Penn Mutual Insurance Co. He was the past president of the U.S. Jaycees. Mr. Blankenship served on the board of directors of the Fulton Federal Bank in Atlanta and on the board of Outstanding Young Men of America.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Marietta, Ga.; his stepfather, Victor Moon of Atlanta; his sons, David and Wayne, both of Atlanta; his daughter, Julie of Wichita Falls, Texas; his stepchildren, Cindy Cooper and Kirk Northcutt, both of Atlanta; his sisters, Joyce Calhoun and Dianne Ergle, both of Atlanta; and 11 grandchildren. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Local arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Sixth Avenue Chapel.
