Mary worked at Kansas Wesleyan University until she started her family. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary and a past member of Sacred Heart Ladies Guild. She was a volunteer at Sacred Heart Grade School, was a Girl Scout leader and cared for babies at Mother’s Hour.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2010; brother, Al Blanck; and a great-grandson, David Joe Hay.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Robert Benfield and George Richard Benfield; and a daughter, Mary Ann Hay. Other survivors included two brothers, Dick Blanck and Bill Blanck; two sisters, Luann Conway and Jean Smith; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
