Charles, who resided in Philadephia County, Pennsylvania, served as a Private First Class with the 36th Infantry Division, Fifth Army during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on May 13, 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted as Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" while crossing the Rapido River in Italy. He had served in the Army for one year and six months at the time of his death and was decorated with the Silver Star.
