He was born Aug. 1, 1960, in Lakin, to W.E. "Bud" and Georgia McGillivray Blalock. He grew up and attended schools in Ulysses, graduating in 1978.
Mr. Blalock served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Bamberg, Germany, and then at Fort Lewis, Wash., and Pontiac, Mich., before returning to the Seattle-Tacoma area. After his overseas service, he became a recruiter for the Army, winning numerous awards for his recruiting talents. After leaving the military, he excelled as a salesman, first for Mitsubishi and then for Sleep Country USA, where he was promoted to manager over several Seattle-area stores. At the time of his death, he was an independent sales consultant. He was a member of Shelton Memorial Christian Church of Ulysses, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, and loved NASCAR and reading.
He married Cindy Stage. They later divorced. He married Amy Constant. They also later divorced.
Survivors include two children, Tara Lynn Blalock and David Joseph Blalock, both of Washington; a sister, Tammie Hensley of Hugoton; a grandson; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bradley.
