She was born June 22, 1909, in Johnsburg, to Hubert and Catherine (Meyer) Freund.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in McHenry, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, St. Clara Court 659, and St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women. She was an avid card and bingo player, and she enjoyed baking, canning, gardening, and participating in family activities.
Survivors include three children, Kenneth Blake of Watertown, Wis., Joan (Vern) Chase of Elk Grove Village and Daniel (Paula) Blake of Downers Grove; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Anna (the late Ben) Jung of McHenry and Isabel (Arnold) May of Spring Grove; her dear friend and caregiver, Aldona Tarankiene; and friends Judy Miller and Judy Mueller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Blake, on Dec. 22, 1984; a daughter-in-law, Jane Blake; five sisters, Emma (Peter M.) Freund, Barbara (Joseph L.) Freund, Gertrude (Paul) Schumacher, Margaret (Anton J.) Schmitt and Rosella (Henry) Schmitt; and four brothers, Anton H. (Mary) Freund, George J. (Martha) Freund, Joseph P. (Julia) Freund and Alfred (Lucille) Freund.
The visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1401 N. Richmond Road, McHenry. The Rev. Thomas Burr will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in McHenry.
