Ralph was born, 'Elmer Ellsworth Davis.' He was born over a parsonage at Seventh and Union Streets in Seattle, WA.

He was the second son, to parents 'Ira Orton Davis' and 'Grace Irene Young Van Waters.'*

When he was 18 Months old his mother Grace put him up for adoption. She and Ira had parted ways and she believed it would be too difficult for her to raise both boys on her own. She continued living in Seattle, marrying 3 more times.

Ralph was adopted by 'Mr. and Mrs. Henry James Blaine, (Jo Bell Franklin Blaine' (See memorial: '81976397') and 'Henry J. Blaine'). They renamed him 'Cecil Ralph Blaine' but he always went by the name 'Ralph'.

'BELLE' remained married to Henry for several years and they divorced when Ralph was about 8 years old. Belle went on to marry, again, again and again. There are a total of SEVEN known husbands. Each time she remarried they moved again. They predominantly lived in Eastern Washington and Idaho. In Washington state, they lived in Cheney, North Yakima, Colville, and Spokane. In Idaho, Rathdrum, and Moscow.

When WWI started they moved back to Seattle taking jobs to help the war effort. Belle was a seamstress at Duthies Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. making huge canvas sails for ships in the military.

Ralph's brother, 'Ira Davis Jr.' (BUDD) was a Machinist and also lived in Bremerton, WA.

On March 3, 1926, at age 25, Ralph married Opal Mildred Brown. Ralph and Opal were wed at the home of his biological mother, Grace, and husband, Roy on Greenlake in Seattle.

Ralph and his bride made their family home in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood, where Ralph had a 43-year-long career in Banking.

Ralph and Opal had 2 children; Barbara Jeanne and Christopher Ralph. Barbara had 2 children and Chris had 3.

Ralph was in The Boy Scouts of America (leadership). A hiker/backpacker, gardener, rock hound, jewelry maker, and avid photographer. Over the years he was a member of a number of garden clubs. There he was known for prize-winning Dahlias, Fuchsias, and Pelargoniums.

In retirement, Ralph amused himself with photography and he took up French Gourmet Cooking. He did it well.

Ralph is a former Past Master of the "Century" Masonic Lodge of Seattle.

Grace Irene Young;*(Memorial '103260690') was born in Dubuque, Iowa to parents 'Elizabeth Wilkinson' born in Wisconsin; and 'Joseph H. Young.' All of their parents were from Pennsylvania.
