Mr. Blackwell was retired from the U.S. Army, having served three tours in Vietnam; a member of VFW; and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Ricky Lewis Wells.

CADIZ — Leo Paul Blackwell, 69, Fredonia, died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at his home of natural causes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home with Art Baird officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
A native of Boise, Idaho, he was born Nov. 17, 1934, the son of the late Milburn and Stella Allen Blackwell Vincent. He was retired from the Army, having served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a carpenter and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints.
A stepson, Ricky Lewis Wells, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ethelene Blackwell; three sons, Daniel Lewis, Lawrence Perry and Leo Paul Blackwell Jr., all of Elkton; three stepdaughters, Nancy Brown, Morristown, Tenn., Hazel Smith, Hopkinsville, Brenda Viosinet, Bloomington, Ill.; two stepsons, Johnny Wells, Hopkinsville, Kenneth Wells, Washington, Ill.; a sister, Emmaline Jasperson, Boise; a half-brother, John Vincent, Alpine, Utah, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
