Hulda R. Beghtel, 82, of North Branch, a long time Lapeer area resident and formerly of Mayville, died Saturday Jan. 15, 2000. She was born May 12, 1917, in Mayville, to Ernest and Beatrice (Sarles) Blackmer. She was a seamstress for Ford Motor Co. She was a member of the Faith Community Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her children, Donald (Barbara) Heusted of Lapeer, Fred (Michelle) Heusted of Lapeer, Phil (Jan) Heusted of Fredericksburg, Va., Linda (Gary) Charlick of Howell and Donna Dunlap of Lapeer; step-children, William (Donna) Freeland of North Branch, James (Rosemary) Freeland of Fostoria, Eleanor Bailey of Sebring, Fla., Alan of Utah, and Merle (Lorna) of California; step-daughter-in-law, Deana Freeland of Lapeer; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, June Strasburg of Fostoria; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Heusted; second husband, Lee Freeland; third husband, Carl Bechtel; her parents and step-mother, Eliza Jane; step-son, Arnold Freeland; brothers, Ted Blackmer, Jim Blackmer, Ed Blackmer, Lee Blackmer and Clarence Blackmer; sister, Mary Luskey. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Community Church in North Branch. Funeral services were held Tuesday Jan. 18, 2000 at the Faith Community Church in North Branch. Pastor Brent Jerome and the Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Watertown Cemetery
