Barbara Pauline Blackledge Tipton Heartfield Andersen, 89, died peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2014, just after 2 pm EDT at North Naples Hospital, Naples, Florida, of viral encephalitis.

Born Barbara Pauline Blackledge on 28 Feb 1925 in Pensacola, FL, she was the only child of Irma Harriet Ranney and LT Allan Douglas Blackledge, USN. After her mother was killed in a single car accident in Wyoming in 1929, Barbara went to live with her Aunt and Uncle, Edna Louise Ranney and Clyde Darner and their two sons in Omaha, NE.

Barbara was 9 years old when her father Allan remarried, and she soon became part of a happy family of twin sisters and two brothers. While attending the University of Arizona in Tucson, she met a dashing Air Force pilot, 1st Lt Jack Tipton, and they married at the Naval Gun Factory, Washington, D.C. on 21 Dec 1946. Thus began a thirty-year adventure that took the family from Alaska to Okinawa and often back to the D.C. area. Barbara gave birth to their only child Deborah Carol in Fort Belvoir, VA in June 1951.

Barbara had a full teaching career, beginning when the family was stationed in the Washington, D.C. area in 1962 and continuing after Jack retired from the Air Force and the family moved to Falls Church, VA where Barbara continued teaching elementary school for several years. Jack Tipton died on 11 Sep 1984 in Walter Reed Hospital, Arlington, VA.

On 25 Apr 1987, Barbara married Seth Wallace Heartfield Jr., co-owner of two restaurants in the D. C. area. Barbara and Seth enjoyed cruising the Caribbean and hitting the golf links in Naples, FL. Barbara and Seth later moved to Naples and became residents at Tower Pointe, Arbor Trace. Seth died on 28 Feb 2011 in Naples.

Barbara met Robert Christian Andersen at Tower Pointe and they married on 13 Aug 2011 in North Naples United Methodist Chapel in Naples. Bob died on 28 Dec 2012 in Naples.

Barbara greatly enjoyed family, reading, and playing bridge.
