"In loving memory of Norman Porter Black, 50, dedicated and loving husband and father of Salem passed away on Thursday, June 22, 1995, at the Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born on March 30, 1945, in Payson, Utah, the son of Guss Porter Black and Lois Hall Black. Norman married Claudette Bertoglio of Springville on June 23, 1966. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Norman lived in Spanish Fork and Salem, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1963. He was involved in the National Guard and was employed by Westring Oil. He served Salem City in many capacities and was active in many organizations and community activities.
He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings, including serving in the bishopric, Scouting, and Young Men's programs. H was loved by all Primary children and he loved all his nursery children.
He was a man of many hobbies which included hunting, fishing, boating, camping and racing. He had the unique talent of making friends wherever he went. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of Salem; two sons, Chad R. (Toni) Black of Genola, David Hall (Donna) Black of Salem; one daughter, Nikki (Brandon) Thomas of Salem; three grandchildren; his father, Guss Black of Salem; four brothers and one sister: Jimmie (Lynette) Black, Orlon (Jackie) Black, Roland (Marjean) Black, Vernon Black, and Sherrie (Kurt) Harris, all of Salem.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29, 1995, at 1 p.m. in the Salem LDS Stake Center Chapel, 470 East Salem Canal Road, Salem. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, on Tuesday evening, 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday at the ward Relief Society room from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Salem City Cemetery."
