A sacred life came to a close Wednesday morning, April 15, 1998, at 12:11 a.m., when our beloved Mother, Alberta Brown, was called to her heavenly home.

Alberta was born in Yazoo, MS; on June 1, 1910. She was the youngest of five children born to Mary and Gabe Brown. Her siblings and parents all preceded her in death.

Professing her faith and accepting Christ at an early age. Alberta came to Chicago, Illinois in 1967. She joined Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in 1968 and was a faithful member until her illness.

Alberta married Andrew Black (who preceded her death). She was the mother of ten children. Two preceded her in death, Bessie Dodd of Belzoni, MS; and John Black of Chicago, IL.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memory children, Ethel Austin (Willie) of Chicago, IL; Robert Wilson of Chicago, IL; James Brown of Winston Salem, NC; Cornelius Brown (Irene) of Chicago, IL; Theodore Brown of Chicago, IL; Eugene Brown of Chicago, IL; Alonzo Brown of Belzoni, MS; and Lenora Brown of Belzoni, MS; seventy-two grandchildren; one hundred thirty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
