Flora Elvira Jorgenson Black passed away October 16, 2004. She was born in Ephraim, Utah to Enoch and Elvira Nielson Jorgenson on July 19, 1917. She was raised in Ephraim, Utah, where she graduated from high school and attended Snow College. Later she graduated from Henager Business School, and afterwards worked in Salt Lake City for a number of years. She was married to Cline Black in Austin, Nevada, September 6, 1941 and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on the 5th of December, 1944 while World War II was in progress. They lived in Princeton, New Jersey, for two years where she was employed by the Princeton University Press. While there, her husband pursued a Ph.D. and carried out several projects for the development of the Manhattan Project. Flora and Cline later lived in northern California for some 29 years, then in Houston, Texas for five years, and in southern California for nine years. In 1986 they retired and moved to Provo, Utah. She was actively involved in church work until later when health problems interfered, having served in the Primary, Sunday School, MIA, and the Relief Society organizations. She was the fourth in a family of seven children of Enoch and Elvira Jorgenson. She was preceded in death by two brothers (Val and Ralph) and two sisters (Letha and Vera). She is survived by two brothers, Glen Dale and Floyd. She is survived by her husband Cline to whom she was married for 63 years, and her children, Tom (wife Ruth) in Arlington, Texas; Sheri (husband Bob) in Placentia, California; and Rick (wife Jill) in Sandy, Utah. She is the grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of four. She touched many and was loved deeply by all her family, and all who were privileged to know her. Funeral services held Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the Edgemont 11th Ward chapel, 3050 Mojave Lane, Provo, Utah. She laid to rest at East Lawn Memorial Hills in Provo, Utah. The grave was dedicated by her eldest son, Tom Black. We will miss our wife, mother and friend during this period while we are separated.
