Arthur Dean Black, 82, of 126 Cotton Creek Trail, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Turbeville, S.C., he was the husband of Jasperee (Jackie) Turner Black and son of the late Robert C. Black, Sr. and Marjorie Player Black.
He retired from Robert Allen Fabrics, was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and member of Fairview Baptist Church. He formerly served as Chairman of Deacons at Fairview Baptist and Providence Baptist Churches, was a member of Gideons International for 32 years, and was a member of the Cherokee County Homebuilders Association and the Civitan Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John Andrew Black of Gaffney; a daughter, Sonya Jean Black of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Andrew Tod Black and wife, Kinsey, and Elina Vujjeni and fiancé, Dylan Guyton.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Black, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Fairview Baptist Church, 503 Fairview Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 1712, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
