SHREVEPORT, LA - Services honoring the life of Joe Edward Bizet will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel with interment to follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery , Bossier City, LA. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service time in the chapel. Officiating will be Jim Freeman.
Joe was born January 7, 1924 in Valliant, OK and passed away Monday,September 26, 2011 in Shreveport. A lifelong Presbyterian, he was active in many civic and community affairs. Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the USS Hancock. He retired as a Sales Representative after years of faithful service.
His wife, Nell Lancaster Bizet, parents, sister, Alice Ann Wallace, and brothers, Ray Bizet and Walter Emmert, preceded Joe in death. Survivors are his daughters, Mary Lou Thomas, and Barbara Callaway and husband, Steve Callaway; grandchildren, Derek Thomas and wife, Christine, Adam Thomas, Carey Bowman and husband, Jonathan, Ashley Collinsworth, and Leigh Ann Thompson and husband, Chris; five great grandchildren; sister, Jean Peyton; and brother-in-law, V.A. Wallace.
Pallbearers will be Steve Callaway, Derek Thomas, Adam Thomas, and Chris Thompson, and Richard Wallace.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Spring Lake Guest Care, the staff of Agape Hospice, and the staff of Kingsley Place.
