Ovide Bizette was born July 18, 1840 the son of Paulin Bizette and Barbe Ophelia Lejeune of the Island of False River in Pointe Coupee Parish. He was brother to fellow unit member Zephirin. "Ovid Bizet" of Capt. Richard A. Stewart's Pointe Coupee Artillery, Co. C enlisted in the artillery unit on June 7, 1862 when the Louisiana cannoneers were camped near Abbeville, Miss. He is listed among the soldiers who died in 1863 at the Ward of Dr. A. M. King at the University of Miss. He lies buried at Old Soldiers Cemetery on the Ole Miss campus in Lafayette County, Miss.
Birth date, enlistment date, patient name, unit name and death year were recorded by the hospital staff in Oxford in 1863. No record of his service in the Confederacy survived the war.
