OBITUARY FROM TUCKER FUNERAL HOME

LEWISBURG - Sylvia Gene Bivins, 68, of Lewisburg, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. Mrs. Bivins was born January 22, 1944 in Muhlenberg County. She was a school teacher in Hopkins County, and was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Powderly. She was preceded in death by her father, James Riley Gilbert, and son, Richard Bivins.

Survivors include her husband, W.T. "Tom" Bivins; sons John (Kathy) Bivins of Central City and Mike (Lisa) Bivins of Georgia; mother Mary Penrod Gilbert of Drakesboro; sisters Patricia Gilbert (Errol) Bryant of Beechmont and Mary Jane Gilbert (Jimmy) Bowles of Earlington; and brother Richard "Dickie" (Donna) Penrod of Goshen, IN.

Funeral services and burial are private. Visitation for friends and family, and the community will be Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 3-7PM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Center for Courageous Kids or Bob Heier Ministries. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
