BITTNER--Saturday rites set for Charles Bittner, retired UP engineer
Funeral services for Charles G. Bittner, 73, of 3315 16th Street, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lowell Jones officiating.
The retired Union Pacific engineer died unexpectedly Wednesday morning in St. Mary Hospital.
His body will lie in state at Gass-Haney Funeral Chapel from 1 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Masonic rites.
Mr. Bittner had 44 years of service with the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in March, 1967. He lived in Omaha before moving here in 1936.
Son of the late Edd and Margaurita Koelecoven Bittner, he was born March 12, 1897 in Adair County, Iowa, where he received his education.
He married Coramay Clark on Nov. 4, 1936 in Omaha.
Mr. Bittner's Masonic affiliations included Lebanon Lodge No. 323, AF & AM; York Rite Orient Chapter 18, Gebal Council No. 12; Gethsemane Commandery No. 21; Tangier Shrine temple.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Engineers and Union Pacific Oldtimers Club No. 3.
Survivors include his wife; sister, Mrs. Ida Smith of Fontenelle, Iowa; nieces, Norma Bolton of Iowa City and LaVern Glenndening of Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to United Methodist Church.

BITTNER--Bittner Survivors - Additional survivors of Charles G. Bittner, who died Oct. 14, are three sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Clara Bittner Bogar and Edward T. Bittner of Creston, Iowa; Clyde H. Bittner of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Kathryn Bittner Mangels, Margaret A. Bittner, Harry E. Bittner and William J. Bittner of Omaha. Other survivors are nieces and nephews, William I. Bittner Jr. and Mrs. Delores Wiesner of Omaha, Richard Bittner and Carol Bittner of Des Moines, Iowa; Charles and Randy Bittner of Creston, Iowa.
