James R. Bissell and his wife, Catherine Gibson Bissell, were lifelong flying enthusiasts - they took pilot lessons in Boston in 1928, got their pilot's licences in 1946, and flew their own plane until well into their 60's. Both loved the Rocky Mountains, and in 1957 moved to Estes Park, CO, where they lived until their deaths in 1994 and 1995 respectively. Mr. Bissell was pres. of J. R. Bissell Dry Goods Co. until they moved to Colorado.
