James W. Bishop, 91, of Covington and formerly of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Villaspring of Erlanger. Born December 19, 1917, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Will and Betty Estes Bishop. James was retired from Serta Mattress; a WWII Army Veteran; a member of the Teamsters; and avid fisherman and a member of the Brian Hallow Club for 49 years. He is survived by his daughter Betty Fisk of Independence; five sons, Stan McCoy of Hemet, CA, Francis “Punk” Bishop of New Liberty, Donald “Bill” Bishop of Ft. Mitchell, David Bishop of Sparta and Rick Bishop of Covington. Fourteen grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren also survive. McDonald &New Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 10am until Noon and services will follow at Noon with Bro. Donald Browning officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
