Mamie Mae Lewis Bishop
Mrs. Mamie Lewis Bishop, 92, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, formerly of 2389 Highway 91, Elizabethton, went to her Heavenly home with her Family and friends by her side, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on Monday, September 17, 2007, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Bishop was the daughter of the late Jeff and Dora Smith Lewis and was a native of Carter County. She was a very active member of Unaka Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bishop; two brothers, Emory and Bernie Lewis and a sister, Blanche Markham.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Cline, Etta June Hughes, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Diana Bishop, Elizabethton; Joel and Wilma Bishop, Johnson City; two sisters, Ruby Hicks, Elizabethton; Etta Estep, Deland, FL; a granddaughter, Emily Bishop, Johnson City; twelve grandsons, Tony Bishop, Erwin; Wes, Denny, Billy and Jimmy Bishop, all of Elizabethton; Tim and Kevin Cline, Elizabethton; Tommy Hughes, Kingsport; Mike Hughes, Johnson City; Todd Hughes, Elizabethton; Benjamin Bishop, Johnson City; Jeff Bishop, Nashville; seven great granddaughters; six great grandsons, including, special great grandsons, Todd Hughes, II and Derek Cline; four great great grandchildren; three special nieces, Carol Birkner, Lynnese Hayworth, Esther Smith; special friends, Beth Deal, Carolyn Nidiffer and Rachel Cline. Numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Bishop will be conducted on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Gary Arnold and Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dale Williams and Edwin Taylor. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 11:30 AM in the Garland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Link Nidiffer, Joe Williams, Tom McCloud, David Birkner, David Hayworth, Eddie Lewis, Teddy Ray Lewis, Ivan Lewis, Wayne Lewis, Les Grindstaff, Bobby Joe Fletcher and Leroy Cline. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday from 6:00 ? 7:00 PM prior to the service and at the home of her daughter, Phyllis Cline, 1001 Riverside Drive at other times.

The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Judy and Victor Deloach and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, the 3rd floor staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Dr. Claire Paris for their love and care for Mrs. Bishop.
