Dorothy Pearl Bischoff, 83, formerly of Waco, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Waco Memorial Mausoleum. She will lie in state beginning late Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born in Temple, Texas, to the late Mae and Dan Hodge. She married Fred W. Bischoff on Aug. 23, 1947, in Temple. After earning her B.S. degree from Mary Hardin Baylor, Dorothy moved to Cleburne, Texas, and taught in the Joshua Independent School District. She was an active member of Anglin Street Methodist Church. She and her family moved to Waco in 1964, and she continued teaching for an additional 20 years at Crestview Elementary. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Austin Avenue Methodist Church, the Garden Club and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Burdett, of Austin and Vern Chaffin, of Temple; and brother, Daniel Hodge Jr., of Austin.

She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Fred Bischoff; daughter, Connie Mae Tomlin and husband, Alan, of Houston; grandchildren, Hillary Bennett and husband, Jeremy, of Sugar Land, and Kyle Horne and wife, Christy, of Houston; and her great-granddaughters, Kylie Mae and Lainey Rebecca Bennett.
