Catherine Madie (Willson) Binkley, 94, formerly of Freeport, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center at Ossian, Indiana. Born Dec. 1, 1919, in Pleasant Valley, she was the daughter of Joseph and Madie Guenzler Willson. On July 30, 1938, she married Carl V. Binkley of Stockton, who preceded her in death in 2009. Together Catherine and Carl, both ordained ministers of the Churches of God, General Conference, pastored churches for over 44 years; serving churches at Lanark, Buda, Decatur, Mount Carroll and were the founding pastors of Laurel Street Church of God, Freeport, from 1965 to 1973. They also pastored churches in Ohio and Indiana before retiring near family in the Fort Wayne, Ind. area. Catherine graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1968, with an elementary education degree and taught at the Ridott Township Elementary School. Survivors include sons, David (Sherrie) Binkley of Perrysburg, Ohio, Jonathan (Barbara) Binkley of Toledo, Ohio, Stephen (Char) Binkley and Timothy (Lou Ann) Binkley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughters, Rose Mary (Joe) Lampton of Zanesville, Ind., Ruth Ann (Larry) Whatley of Ossian, Ind., Rebekah (John) Montgomery of Kewanee, Ill., daughter-in-law, Donna Binkley of Bluffton, Ind.; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Victor; and a grandson and a great-grandson. Deceased are a brother and three sisters, all former residents of northwest Illinois; brother, Joseph William Willson; sisters, Marie Willson Derrer, Maranda Willson Derrer, and Grace Willson Lytle Jones. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at the Church of God, Zanesville, Ind. A celebration service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Lanark City Cemetery in Lanark. At Catherine's request, reflecting her passion of caring "for the least of these" as stated in Matthew 25 - in lieu of flowers, preferred memorials to the Churches of God Project Help mission in Haiti, or donor's choice.
