Carole Jeanette Elder Bills, 76, of St. Marys, WV, passed away, April 4, 2011, at her home, after a courageous battle with Mantel Cell Lymphoma. She was born on November 11, 1934, in Pleasants County, WV, a daughter of the late Edith and Lawrence Elder. She was a member of the Calcutta United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School class for over 50 years. She was active with the United Methodist women's group. She was a self-employed seamstress working from her home prior to employment as a cook with the Pleasants County Schools. She enjoyed many years of quilting with the Calcutta Quilting group. Carole shared her talent with the beautiful quilts that she gave to many family members along with the many foods she enjoyed preparing for her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar. They were looking forward to their 59th wedding anniversary on May 10th; sons, David Bills of Marietta, OH, Dann Bills of Pennsboro, WV, and daughter, Rita Bills Maynard of Reno, OH, six grandchildren; Holly Bills Treadway (Darrin), Aaron (Jami) Bills, Joshua (Melissa) Bills, Nevin Phillips, Allie Maynard and Tesla Maynard, six great-grandchildren; Hunter and Hope Douglas, Faith Treadway, Haley, Tanner & Aaden Bills, also sharing the loss are former daughter-in-law, Tammy Cox and son-in-law, Derek Maynard, and Fred Lewis, brothers and sisters, Esther Winland of Williamstown, WV, June Jones of Coolville, OH, Lyle Elder of White Plains, MD, John Elder of Ellijay, GA, Delbert Elder, Charles Elder, Carmen Powell, and Jackie McIntyre all of St. Marys, WV, and Beth Hess of Parkersburg, WV, many nieces and nephews. Carole was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lora and Mary Ann Elder, brother, Paul Elder, nieces, Pamela Winland and Lori Ann Lamp, and nephew, John Jones.
Services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 2 P. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Pastors Mark Mayfield and Steve Gedon officiating. Interment will be in the Bills Cemetery, Calcutta, Pleasants County, WV. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P. M. Wednesday and from 1 to 2 P. M. Thursday at the funeral home.
