MUNFORD - Billy Carl Billings, 69, founder of Billings Tile & Marble Co., died Saturday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis after an auto accident. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Munford Funeral Home with burial in Bethel Cemetery in Atoka. He was a graduate of Munford High School and a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he had served as chairman of the official board, served on the finance committee and the building committee, was a lay leader and a trustee, and was in United Methodist Men and Men's Bible Class. He was a former member and chairman of Tipton County Road Commission and a former member of Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce. He was charter member of Munford Jaycees, chairman of Bethel Cemetery Association, and was on the advisory board of Munford Union Bank. He was a member and past master at Tipton Masonic Lodge, Memphis Scottish Rite Al Chymia Shrine Temple. He also was a member of Royal Order of Scotland and was honorary Legion of Honor. He had served as past president of Cultured Marble Association, district chairman for Grand Lodge of Tennessee and lieutenant governor for West Tennessee for the Demolay. He was on the board of directors of Cultured Marble Institute and the advisory committee of Rainbow Girls. Mr. Billings, the husband of Doris Adkins Billings, also leaves two daughters, Patricia Billings Hinshaw of Munford and Sally Hill of Bartlett; two sons, Carl Billings and Kirk Billings, both of Munford, nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
