Dolores … or "Grandma D-lo" as she was known to her adoring nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A grand lady passed away peacefully at home Sunday night, January 29, 2017 after a brief illness and long life of caring, compassion and kindness for everyone in her world.

There is so much to miss – her storytelling, her many little acts of thoughtfulness, her bright smile and infectious life – and so much to celebrate in 87 years of a full life well-lived.

Dolores was born on Dec. 14, 1929 as the only child to the late Ely and Bernice (Gorski) Buttens.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bill Bilinski Sr., in 2005.

After retiring from State Farm Insurance, she spent much of her time traveling with family, volunteering for events at Holy Family Church and Knights of Columbus, playing cards with a group of wonderful friends and following the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame's football and basketball teams – as well as praying for everyone but herself.

Dolores is survived by daughters Barbara (Guy) Morrical of Granger, IN and Donna (David) Rowley of Carmel, IN; and sons Bill Jr. (Jolene) of South Bend and Dennis (Kim) of Bremen, IN; nine grandchildren: Kimberly (Sean) Klimczak, Kelly (Marty) Wright, Sarah (Nick) McCloughen, Andrew Bilinski, Jaclyn (Mike) Croy, Nathan Bilinski, Jenna (Jared) Mrozinske, Patrick Rowley and Shane Bilinski; eight great grandchildren: Ethan, Andrew and Soren Klimczak; Noah and Alexandra Wright; and Kolton, Kroy and Kolby McCloughen.

She leaves all of us with a truly special family legacy: Laugh at yourself and always, ALWAYS, put others first.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545, N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friends and Family may also visit from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.
