Floyd Adam "Bud" Biddix, 85, of 336 Yellowstone Drive, died Sunday, June 8, 2008. A native and resident of Buncombe County most of his life, he had resided in Henderson County since 1990. Mr. Biddix was formerly owner and operator of The Biltmore Woodworking Company in Black Mountain, was a member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church in Asheville and, along with his wife, was founder of The Great Outdoors Interdenominational Church in Titusville, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank commander in the first Armoured Division, serving in the European Theatre. He was a three time recipient of the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and received the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Biddix; and sister, Gladys Goff. Surviving are his wife, Betty Sales Biddix, of the home; son, Harold Butch Biddix and wife, Shelia, of Fletcher; daughter, Marian Putnam, of Black Mountain; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Biddix, of Asheville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gashes Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Charlie Sprouse and Ed Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the N.C. National Guard.
