Jacob H. Bible Taken by Death
Long-Time Nevadan Widely Known
As a result of a heart attack suffered early last week Jacob Harvey (Jake) Bible, prominent retired merchant of Fallon died early yesterday morning at a local hospital. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Ross-Burke Company are pending and probably will be on Tuesday.
A resident of Nevada for 54 years, Mr. Bible devoted the first ten years in this state to mining activities in Lovelock and vicinity. He was one of the early day residents of the old camps of Seven Troughs and Vernon and was the first postmaster in each of them and was also engaged in the mercantile business.
In 1910 he opened a grocery store in Lovelock and sold out in 1919 to move to Fallon where he operated a hardware store and a meat and grocery store until 1944 when he sold out and retired from active business. In 1947 he and Mrs. Bible moved to Reno to make their home.
He was a charter member of the Fallon Rotary Club and was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Fallon including the Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templars.
On February 15, 1909 in Lovelock Mr. Bible and Miss Isabel Welsh were married. Two sons were born to them, Milton who died in 1947, and Alan Bible, prominent Reno attorney and former attorney general of Nevada.
Besides his widow and son he leaves a brother Owen Bible of Lovelock; three grandsons, Paul, William and David Bible of Reno and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bible was a native of Lima, Ohio, born March 19, 1884. he received his early education there and came west when he was 16 years old.

Bible: husband of Mrs. Isabel Bible of Reno; father of Allen Bible of Reno; grandfather of Paul, William and David Bible, all of Reno; brother of Owen Bible of Lovelock. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A member of Churchill Lodge No. 26, F & AM of Fallon, Knight Templars, Royal Arch Masons and a charter member of Fallon Rotary Club. A native of Lima, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 at the home chapel of Ross-Burke Company, under the dircection of Reno Lodge No. 13, F & AM,and with the Rev. John T. Ledger. Interment in the Masonic section of Mountain View Cemetery.
