Daniel C. Beverly was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, October 15, 1869, and departed this life on January 10, 1913, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He came to Ellis with his parents and the family in 1878 where he has resided since. He was in the employ of the Union Pacific railroad for over twenty years. The last few years of his service was as a conductor. Deceased has been a sufferer from valvular heart trouble for over two years, most of this time as a patient in the above-mentioned hospital. Every aid and assistance that medical science could offer was had and the untiring attention and loving sympathy of his brothers and sisters all availed but little; his decline was gradual, but inevitable and he passed peacefully and hopefully from the realm of the physical into the spiritual on Saturday morning at 4:45 o'clock. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Free and Accepted Masons of the Blue Lodge and Chapter and Eastern Stars in Ellis and of the Knight Templars in Hays. He is survived by his father, two sisters and eight brothers, one brother and his mother having preceded him, she on February 10, 1904, and by a multitude of friends and neighbors, many of whom were present to manifest their love and sympathy.
