Hazel Fern Bevans, 87, of Lewis County, MO died September 15, 2014 at Country Aire Nursing Home at Lewistown, MO.

She was born on August 4, 1927 in Lewis County near Williamstown, MO, the daughter of Abe I. Bevans and Linnie Glisan Bevans.

Hazel attended Providence Baptist Church with her family and the Morris school located near the family farm. She also attended Williamstown High School. She was employed by Western Auto in St. Louis, MO, where she worked for over 30 years. She later moved to Winfield, MO, where she resided until coming to the Country Aire Retirement Estates in 2011.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Robert Bevans; three sisters, Mabel Lynn Burke, Ella Tompkins, and Ola Walker English; two nephews, Gary and Larry Tompkins; and William “Bill” Jack, her beloved friend and companion for over 35 years.

Survivors include one niece, Tara Burke Leas, and family of San Antonio, TX. ; one brother-in-law, James E. Burke of Amarillo, TX and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, from 5-7 pm at Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO. Graveside service will be held Monday, September 22, at 11:00 am at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
