Miss Ailene Berry, 52, 2509 Weaver was found critically wounded at her home shortly before 4 p.m. Monday.
Miss Berry, librarian at St. Joseph Hospital, was found by three nurses who became worried when she failed to show up for work Monday.
Haltom City Police Captain A. C. Styles said Miss Berry was found sitting on a divan unconscious. He said her hand was atop a .25 caliber pistol that had slipped between two cushions.
Miss Berry was shot in the left temple, the bullet emerging from the right temple. St. Joseph Hospital attendants described her condition as very grave early Tuesday.

Funeral plans for Miss Ailene Berry, 52, of 2509 Weaver, were incomplete Wednesday at Robertson-Mueller-Harper.
Miss Berry died Tuesday afternoon in a hospital from a gunshot wound received Monday. She was found in her home, shot once in the head. Her hand was found atop a pistol, Haltom City police officers reported.
Police Capt. A. C. Styles found a note written by Miss Berry leaving instructions for her burial. Styles also found a will dated Friday leaving all her possessions to two nephews, Clyde L. Berry of Austin and Robert J. Berry with the Army at Fort Hood.
Miss Berry was librarian at St. Joseph Hospital and a member of St. George's Catholic Church. She had lived here all her life.
