Charles Nelson Berry, Jr., died Friday, October 26, 2007. He was born at Goose Hill, the home of his grandfather, P.A. Norris, Ada, Oklahoma, August 20, 1918. He is the son of Dr. Charles N. Berry and Ada Norris Berry. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Robert Norris Berry. He attended the University of Oklahoma for two years and was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He transferred to Yale University his junior year and graduated from there in 1940. His attendance at Harvard Law School in 1941 was interrupted by World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945, during which he was assigned to the White House Map Room and served President Franklin D. Roosevelt. After one year in Washington, he was assigned as a Lieutenant to the battleship Iowa in which he served for 28 months in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He was attending the United States Naval War College in Newport, R.I. at the time the war ended. He thereupon returned to Harvard Law School and graduated from there in 1948. That year he married Nancy Hart Michaels, Tulsa, Oklahoma and of that marriage, four children were born. That marriage ended in divorce in 1973. He then married Louise Conlon Liebmann, the love of his life, in 1977. She died in 2000. He practiced law in Oklahoma City from 1948, 22 years of that time with Richard J. Spooner. His son, Christopher, died in 1961 and his youngest son, David, died in the World Trade Center in 2001. He is survived by David's widow, Paula, and two other sons living in Seattle, WA, Charles Nelson Berry, III, and Michaels C. Berry. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chase, Lauren, Hawk and Will of Seattle, and Nile, Reed and Alex of New York. He is also survived by his step-children, Carol Liebmann, Santa Fe, NM, Tyra Liebmann, East Hampton, NY, and Paul G. Liebmann, III, of San Diego. Services will be held Monday, November 5, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at All Souls Episcopal Church with interment to follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Those wishing to do so may make contributions to the All Souls Episcopal Church Stephen Ministries Fund.
