Age 74, a longtime Erie resident, a son of the late Ray and Ethel Yost Bernsley. He moved to Florida from Erie in 2000.
He had been an iron worker working out of the Ironworkers Local #348 and was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 18 years, Sylvia Smith Bernsley, in 1976; a sister, Joan Bernsley in 2006; two brothers, Richard and Robert Bernsley.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Mary Elder; two daughters, Gale Brown and her husband, Irwin Markle, and Jacqueline Twaroski and her husband, Stanley Twaroski, Jr., all of Erie; three step-sons, Carl Elder of Centerville, Pa., Kevin Elder and his wife, Terri, and Donald Elder and his wife, Tanya, all of Erie; three step-daughters, Paula Jones and her husband, Eric, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Darla Allburn and her husband, Al, of Erie, and Karen Gioeli of Clermont, Fla.; two sisters, Deanna Samokar of Erie, and Nellie Horn and her husband, Ray, of Harborcreek; a brother, Ralph Bernsley (d. 11/3/2009 age 67), and his wife, Maryann, of Erie; 19 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
