Mrs. Annie L. Bernard, 94, of Dry Fork, passed away October 2, 2012 in Cumberland, Virginia. She was born on June 12, 1918 in Grifton, North Carolina to the late Slade Lancaster Sr. and Nellie Lancaster. Mrs. Bernard formerly worked at Dan River Mills. From age 9, she was raised at Hughes Memorial Home on Route 41 until she married after graduating from Whitmell Farm-Life High School in 1936. She attended Lighthouse Bible Church. She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn K. Chattin and sons James Edward Bernard, Buddy Gray Bernard, Michael Thomas Bernard and David Bruce Bernard. She was the last surviving member of her generation and was predeceased by four brothers, one half-brother, three sisters, and two half-sisters. Funeral services will be held October 6, 2012 at the Barker Chapel. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, Virginia. Barker Funeral Services is respectfully serving the Bernard family.
