Lambert J. "Bert" Bergman passed away unexpectedly March 26th, 2006 in Sun City, AZ. Bert was born in Evansville, IL. April 20th, 1927 to A. Lambert and Gretchen Bergman. A Memorial service was held at Sunland Mortuary in Sun City, April 1st. Pastor Brad Wilson of Vineyard Church, Sun City West, presided. Bert served in the Navy during W.W.II as a signal man on the South Dakota, known as Battleship X, the flagship for Admiral Halsey. Following the Japanese surrender he was station on the USS Springfield. He returned to active duty during the Korean war and was discharged in 1953. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. He became an outstanding agent for Allstate Insurance Co. in Calif and retired in 1984. He then moved to Lahaina, Maui where he was manager of the Kapilani Estates. Bert is survived by his mother Gretchen Bergman, sons Jon and Jeff, grandchildren Ellah, Ian, and Dylan, cousin Jean Porter, and his beloved fiance' Mary E. Baxter. It was Bert's wish that his ashes be interred in the Eternal Reefs program at a future date.
