Omaha Daily Bee, July 10, 1911:

Max Bergman, a character of South Omaha for the last twenty-five years, died early Saturday morning at the county hospital from an attack of pneumonia. Bergman was a bachelor, 54 years old. He was born of wealthy parents and well educated.

At one time Bergman held a high position in the government service. For some years wealthy relatives of the dead man had supported him through L. C. Gibson of this city. The money came through the guardian of a millionaire relative who is present said to be confined in an insane asylum. The guardian lives at Gilman, Ia.

Telegrams to Gilman announced that relatives would arrive to take charge of the funeral arrangements. The funeral will be held this morning at 10 a.m. from Larkin's. Interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery.
