2 Dead, 3 Missing, Is Lake Storm Toll

Two men who had set out for Cleveland in a sailing boat from Lorain, 0., were still missing early today, feared lost in the wind and thunder squall that endangered scores Wednesday night, as bodies of two of three other storm victims were recovered yesterday.

The two missing men believed drowned are Donald Butler, 24, of 14237 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, and Fred Stulz, 31. of 19452 Coffinberry Boulevard, Fairview.

The wreckage of a sixteen-foot sailing boat which the two were said to be bringing back from Lorain for its owner. Dr. Robert Gardner of the Fairview address, was found by coast guards three miles off Rocky River yesterday. There was no trace of the missing men.

The bodies recovered were those of Alex Bercsenyi, 34, of 9009 Eaton Avenue S. E., and Norman Malacek, 14, of 3416 E. 131st Street. They were picked up off the Gordon Park breakwall by coast guards yesterday.

Both had been fishing. Malacek had been with Henry Bender, 60, of 4273 E. 131st Street, who is also believed drowned, and Leslie Bennethum, 41, of 3438 E. 139th Street. Bennethurni was rescued and is recovering from exposure at Glenville Hospital.

Search continued today for the bodies of three of the five persons belived drowned in wednesday night storm.

The bodies of Alex Bercsenyi 34, postal clerk, and Norman Malacek, 15, were recovered yesterday. Still who was with young Malacek when their fishing boat capsized and Donald Butler and Fred Stulz whose empty boat was found off Rocky River.
