Annita M. Amick, 65 of North Vernon passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at her residence.

Born August 7, 1943 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Dorothy Mae Spencer Bentz. She graduated from Seymour Senior High School in 1961 and immediately went to TWA Flight School in Florida.

Ms. Amick had held four federal jobs. She was employed with the CIA as part of the medical staff at Langely, VA with top secret clearance. Later she worked with the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge where she was the first secretary hired for the Seymour office. Annita also worked with the Farmer's Home Administration USDA of North Vernon and the Army's Jefferson Proving Ground of Madison.

She loved animals, flowers, sewing, reading, and music. She was the church organist for 12 years at Zion Baptist Church and church organist for Greenbrier Baptist Church in Washington D.C. for 2 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of which her father Charles "Spud" Bentz and her uncle Ernest Stewart founded in 1968.

She is survived by her daughter, Tara Stanton of North Vernon, a son Ryan (Amy) Black of Groton, MA, a brother Charles Edward Bentz of Hayden, and two grandchildren, Logan and Jessc Stanton of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, baby Terry Black and Jason Scott Black.
Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2009 at 3 PM at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Watts officiating. Friends and family may call from 2 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be directly following the memorial service at the Vernon Cemetery.
