Mattie L. Ballengee, 86, of Silver Run
Mattie Lorraine Ballengee, 86, of Silver Run, died Monday morning, April 12, 2004, at her home after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 13, 1918, in Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Mary "Minnie" Armintis Bennett.
Before retiring, she had worked at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Patricia Carol and Kenneth Stewart of Silver Run, Gloria Mae and Richard D. Crocker Sr. of Lineboro; daughter Constance June Dunning of Silver Run; brother Robert L. Bennett of Danese, W.Va.; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by brother John Finley; sisters Christina Lavender and Mae Ellen Bennett; and grandchildren Richard D. Jr., Raymond A. Crocker, Katherine Stewart Caltrider and Alice Bowie Caltrider.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Dwight Eldeen officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Silver Run.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
