Mamie Lovina Bennett, 83, of Shelbyville died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born Dec. 20, 1923, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Ralph and Nettie(Truax)Hill.

She married James Richard Bennett on June 16, 1952, and he survives. Other survivors include her sons, David Allen Day of Shelbyville and Donald Ralph Day of Geneva; brothers, Ivan Daniel Hill of South Houston, Texas, and Harold Wayne Hill of Shelbyville; sisters, Patricia Morgan and Isabelle K. Baker, both of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Richard Bennett.

Mrs. Bennett had been employed at General Electric from 1967 to 1975. Prior to that, she had been employed at Shelby Manufacturing, Chase Upholstery, Kennedy Carliner and Camp Atterbury 5th Army Hospital, where she was a baker.

She was a member of St. George Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 70 Ladies Auxiliary.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
