. He was raised in Decatur by his parents Harry Frank Bennett and Elsie Bennett, both deceased. He is also predeceased by his sister Joanne Bennett Gross. After facing with dignity and grace a brief illness, he passed peacefully at home with his beloved wife of 56 years, Susan, and his dear son Davis at his side. He was a lifelong member of his beloved church, First Baptist Church of Decatur, where he served as a deacon, joyously sang in the choir and was a devoted member of the Verdery Class for decades. David was a graduate of Georgia State University, where he went on to serve as Director of Business Services and Associate VP for Facilities. In his retirement he enjoyed times with his family at their mountain home in Rabun County and summer weeks at St. Simons Island. In addition to his wife Susan and his son Davis, David is survived by his precious grandchildren, Grayson and Candler Bennett and Josephine Brodie, his sister-in-law Jeanne Sansone, his loving God daughter Rhonda Brodie, and several nephews and nieces and their families. Pop, as he was fondly called, was a model of Christian love, grace and generosity for all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
