Mrs. Rolanda Nokomis Anderson Bennett, 37, of Waco, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2008. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Buhl officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at OakCrest Funeral Home. A memorial video will be shown during the visitation.

Rolanda was born in Waco, Texas, to Yvonne and Ronnie Anderson. She graduated from Waco High School in 1989, and continued her education at McLennan Community College. Rolanda just recently received her certificate as a massage therapist. At the time of her passing, she was establishing her clientele for her treatment program. She was a long time active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a member of the yearly Vacation Bible School committee and was a member of the Zion Hill Praise Dance Ministry. On March 10, 1990, Rolanda married Maurice Trevell Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her son, Maurice "TJ" Trevell Bennett, on May 17, 1992.

Rolanda is survived by her husband of 18 years, the Rev. Maurice Bennett; her mother and step-father, Yvonne and Nathaniel Jackson, of Hewitt; her father, Ronnie Anderson, of Waco; brother, Edward Belvin, Jr. and wife, Matalya, of Waco; her grandmother, Nokomis Williams and husband, Billy D., of Waco; her parents-in-law, Izeal and Barbara Bennett, of McComb, Miss.; aunts, Vera Washington and Leola Miller, both of Waco; uncles, L.J. Joiner Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Austin, and Dwayne Joiner and wife, Janet, of Waco; mentoring parents, Pastor and Sister Carl L. Buhl Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and countless devoted friends.

She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep."
