Cleveland resident Clara Renner Bennett, 95, died Jan. 15 in a Chattanooga hospital after a short illness.

Widely known for her quilt making and an accomplished seamstress and gardener, she was elected to the Bradley County Agricultural Hall of Fame and was active in community affairs and was a member of the home demonstration club for 70 years.

The daughter of the late W.A. (Billy) and Louisa Renner, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.F. Frank Bennett Sr.; brothers, Paul and Marvin Renner; and sisters, Sue Ada Clabo and Willie Ruth May.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, 33 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fike Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with Rev. Samuel Melton and Rev. Allan Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Fike Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Waterville Baptist Church building fund at 3722 Dalton Pike, Cleveland, Tenn., 37323 or the 4-H Club Foundation, 2621 Morgan Circle, 205 Morgan Hall, Knoxville, Tenn., 37996.
