Funeral Services: 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Huspah Baptist Church,, Gardens Corner. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
He was born July 26, 1942, in Beaufort, South Carolina, the son of the late Irvin and Helen Brown Bennett.
He was educated in the public schools of Beaufort County. Later in life, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized and joined the Huspah Baptist Church.
As a young man Elvin moved to New York and resided there for about 20 years until he moved back to South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Benjamin Bennett, Abraham Bennett, Francis Moultrie and Alvin Gary, two sisters, Janie Green and Elouise Nix.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Stephanie (Reginald, Sr.) Driver, Vernia James and Leica (Charles) Stephens all of New York; four grandchildren, Reginald, Jr., Michael, Kenya and Richketta; One sister, Theresa Bennett Anthony of Ohio; One aunt, Mary Bennett of New York; One Brother-in-law, William Nix of Sheldon, SC; devoted nephews and nieces who were more like sons and daughters, Kenneth, Joseph, Keith, Ellis and Carl Green, Janie (William) Ganues, and Juanita (Kevin) Tucker; several other caring nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends to include a special friend and caregiver Maeola Hagood.
