OBITUARY :
DOROTHY JEAN BENNETT, 77, of 449 McDowell Avenue, Hagerstown, and a former resident of Avalon Manor, died on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the College View Center in Frederick, Maryland.
Born July 13, 1929 in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harold S. Near and Clara Near Besore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Bennett on August 8, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters, Clara Jean Jamison of Hagerstown, and Carol Ann Sprankle of Phoenix City, Alabama; one son, Carl W. Sprankle, Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Grace Otzelberger of Hagerstown, and Cecilia Ramsey of Maryland; two brothers, Frank D. Near, and Jack A. Near both of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William J. Near, James A. Near and Harold S. Near, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Rev. Donald Haas will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
