Jarvis Bennett, Sr., age 83, of Winona, died Friday, October 16 at Winona Manor after a lengthy illness. Mr. Bennett was born in Clay City, Mississippi and was a retired railway agent with Columbus and Greenville Railroad. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James R. Bennett and was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Gladys McMullen Bennett of Winona; a son, Jarvis Bennett, Jr. of Walnut Creek, California, and two grandchildren.
Services were held at Oliver Chapel, Monday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend A. G Clark officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were G. E. McDougal, Gene Gibson, Aubrey Boone, Charles Billingsley, Bob Simmons, and David Bozone.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. David Meadows, Mr. R. L. Varner, Mr. Tom Kennedy and Mr. M. C. Billingsley.
