Birth: May 25, 1848
Boone County
Indiana, USA
Death: Apr. 19, 1865
Shiloh Battlefield
Hardin County
Tennessee, USA

The US National Cemetery Interment Control Forms, 1928-1962 - Alderson G Bennet states he died April 19, 1865 and was initially buried in Mississippi, then interned in Shiloh later. According to Civil War documents he probably died Apr 19, 1862 US, Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960 - Alderson G Bennet a handwritten note of burials of Shiloh shows date of death of 1862 with the 2 overwritten to a 5, making it 1865. Since the Civil War had ended by that date and the Battle of Shiloh took place in 1862, I believe the 1862 date to be the correct date. - ck 10/3/2014

Alderson Bennett actually died on 19 Apr 1865 per a letter to his mother from F. C. Phillips who wrote the letter on the day of the death of Alderson.

A lonely, mossy mound;
And yet to hearts like mine and thine
It should be holy ground.

Speak softly, let no careless laugh,
No idle, thoughtless jest,
