Brenda passed away Wednesday at her Waxahachie residence. She was born in Mt. Pleasant to Jeff and Faye (Lockaby) Benefield. She attended schools in Mt. Pleasant and was of the Baptist Faith. She moved to Waxahachie in 1970 and raised two daughters. Brenda worked as a convenient store manager for Truitt’s Grocery and as manager for Bill Ray (WLR Inc.) for all the stores in Waxahachie, Italy, and Red Oak for 15 years. She owned Brenda’s Check Cashing for the past eight years and for the past year and a half worked part time for L-B Janitorial. She loved her family, enjoyed her grandchildren, and occasionally enjoyed going to the riverboats in Louisiana. She liked to read and listen to country music.
Brenda is survived by: special friend, Lynn Mitchell and his children, Janet and Daniel; daughters, Judy Adamson and Sherry Baily both of Waxahachie; three brothers, Charles Richard Benefield and wife Brenda of Tyler, Kenneth Venoy Benefield and wife Jeannie of Orr City, and Bobby Benefield of Pittsburg; four sisters, Mary Hufstetler of Waxahachie, Sue Blont and husband E.B. of Pittsburg, Linda Ryan and husband Perry and Wanda Anderson all of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Dennis Adamson III and Stacey Adamson both of Waxahachie, James, Amanda and Michael Bailey of New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gaylon, James and Martin and one sister, Sarah Benefield.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Saturday, September 11, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Ted Brown, Chaplain, officiating.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hufstetler, Jerry Hufstetler, Dennis Adamson III, Terry Lockaby, Kerry Wayne Benefield and Daniel Mitchell. Interment will follow in the Bridges Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TX. with Brother L. C. Terry officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
