Curt Benefiel, 89, passed into eternal life on June 16th, in his home in Stayton, surrounded by loved ones, and his loving wife of 66 years, Eva. Curt was born in Forest Grove, to Oscar and Luzell Benefiel, but grew up in Willamina where he and Eva met while in grade school. After his return from the Navy in 1948, he enrolled in Linfield College. Four years and four babies later, he and Eva embarked on a lifetime journey in Education. Dad was a wonderful teacher, coach, bus driver, councilor, Principal, Superintendent, and role model for thousands of students as he and Eva traveled and taught in any place that sounded interesting to them, including Guam.

Curt was a caring, compassionate man with a competitive spirit. He loved the Oregon Ducks, playing dominos, and played a mean game of pool. He also enjoyed fly fishing and hunting.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Kearney and Ben. He is survived by his wife, Eva; daughters Anita Sweeten of Stayton, Annie (Bob) Koenig of Stayton, sons Curtis Kelly (Donna) Benefiel of Stayton, and Rex (Debbie) Benefiel of Danville, Virginia. Curt is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
