Adolpho, 82, of Alma, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home with his family at his side.
Funeral services were held, Wednesday, February 1st at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Jules Spleet officiating. A prayer service was held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Chino was born in Digwell, Texas, the son of Frank and Cuca (Perez) Benavidez. He graduated from Alma High School in 1947 where he was a standout in track and field events.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and shortly after his honorable discharge he married Frances Olgine on September of 1956. Chino worked for Total Petroleum for 25 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Louis VFW, St. Louis Moose Lodge, and the Breckenridge American Legion. Chino enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
He is survived by one son, Roy Cassias of Grand Prairie, Texas, five daughters, Christine (Tom) Hicks of Shepherd, Elia (Keith) Stanigar of San Antonio, Texas, Elda (Herschel) Allen of Waxahachie, Texas, Elsa Ray of Shepherd and Synthia Hall of Mt. Pleasant. Also 23 grand children, 25 great grandchildren, two brothers, Leroy Benavidez of California and Frank Benavidez of Alma and three sisters, Elvera Vasquez of Alma, Minnie Cuevas of California and Aldelfa Ortiz of Nevada.
Chino was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances, one son, a brother, and four sisters.
